How I Stay Anchored in Scripture

Scripture is not a task to complete, but the primary means by which we behold Christ. If our lives are going to be shaped by Him, they must first be shaped by His Word. What has mattered most for me has not been complexity, but consistency—returning to Scripture daily, even when it feels ordinary.

A Bible I Can Stay In

Familiarity matters. Not just reading Scripture, but understanding its context, seeing connections, and growing in clarity over time.

  • NIV Cultural Backgrounds Study Bible

This has been especially helpful in understanding the historical and cultural setting of the text, allowing Scripture to be read more clearly and faithfully.

A Plan That Keeps Me Moving

Without direction, it’s easy to stay in familiar passages and avoid the full counsel of Scripture.

  • The Bible Recap (365 Reading Plan)

This has been especially helpful in reading through the entire Bible, not just preferred sections. It keeps me moving forward while still making space to reflect on what I’m reading.

A Posture That Values Depth Over Speed

The goal is not to rush through chapters, but to see clearly what God has revealed.

That means:

  • slowing down when needed

  • rereading passages

  • sitting with what stands out

Some days, that looks like reading multiple chapters. Other days, it means staying in a few verses longer than planned.

A Final Thought

Staying anchored in Scripture is less about finding the perfect system and more about returning, again and again, to the Word of God. Over time, that steady return begins to shape how we think, what we love, and how we live.

Behold. Believe. Become.
